SHO-5 CANTEEN

In 1930, the Japanese overhauled the design of their military canteen. the result was the Sho-5 (named as such as it was made in the 5th year of Showa, 1930) canteen. Over the next 15 years, the canteen would remain the same, however, the harness carrying it would change three times. this particular example is the first pattern harness, as is evident by the two tabs either side of the canteen used to hold a leather strap that secures the lid, missing on this example. The canteen and harness are dated 1933.
