These items were membership memorabilia given to members of the Dai Nippon Fujinkai (The Patriotic Women's Association) in the years leading up to and including the Second World War. The items include a silver and gold membership pin as well as a leather decorated wallet, and all have ties to the association branch in Hakodate, southern Hokkaido.
The purpose of the organization was to mobilize women to support the war effort and to strengthen the mora. It encouraged a humble and frugal lifestyle and promoted methods of resource preservation. It informed women of the state war policy, collected donations, held lectures and participated in work to free up men for service in the military.
