CMF Khaki Cotton Tunic

First raised during World War One the 6th Australian Light Horse Regiment was formed from the pre-existing New South Wales Mounted Rifles. The Regiment saw active service on Gallipoli, Egypt and the Middle east. After the war the Regiment was briefly disbanded but was once again raised in 1921 as part of the Citizens Military Forces (CMF). The CMF was a nationwide collective of militia units whose ranks were filled with part time soldiers. The 6th Light Horse operated withing the 2nd Military District of NSW. 

This tunic is a khaki drill tunic which would have been worn during field exercises in the late 1920's or 1930's. The tunic is light weight making it idea for in the field use and hot weather. This particular tunic bares the badge of a driver, who has qualified in driving various forms of transportation from trucks to light armoured vehicles.
